A Family Business

by Ron MacInnis

For some reason, our guests tell us, it is always interesting to know something of the hosts with whom they will be spending a small part of their lives. So...if you have read this far, then maybe you are curious as well. So keep going if you want, and click for more info if you are curious.

Oceanstone is an unfolding adventure, conceived and constructed by the MacInnis family of Nova Scotia, Canada. How it happened is a long story, but an interesting one, and not without its rewards, if one is content to receive one's rewards in a non-monetary form.

So here is the cast of characters behind the scenes here at Oceanstone.

Ron and Carole, after some thirty years together, are still having fun and enjoying the adventure of their lives, Ron working on the website and sitting on provincial tourism committees, Carole managing the inn. That's Ernie the Poo in Ron's arm. Another long story...

Paul, our oldest son and chef, seen here greeting a guest. (No, not really: that's his little nephew, Milo.)

Paul's food is frequently described as "the best ever."

And this is Scott, seen here hard at work, which he is most of the time. Scott at the age of 21 came to the rescue and supervised the building of most of what you see at Oceanstone. His cabinet work and sense of decor are exquisite.

Matt, the youngest of the three boys, has now graduated with a degree in commerce: we are still trying to persuade him to work at the inn.
