It looms in the distance, often mist-shrouded...always mysterious.
It is the largest, but the least visited island in St. Margaret’s Bay.
Join Oceanstone’s eco-concierge Eben Fry for a three hour kayak adventure to this ancient stone outcropping, the highest point in our area, where you will be treated to an unparalleled view of the Indian Harbour-Peggy’s Cove region, 250 feet above the crashing surf of the open Atlantic.
Scraped clean by an advancing glacier some 10,000 years ago, the island is home to a variety of seabirds, and hardy plants that somehow manage to survive in the cracks and crevices of this rugged but majestically beautiful land.
Along the way Eben will share tales of the island and information about the colorful native flora and fauna that flourish along its shores and pristine waters.
Your Shut In Island adventure includes:
*
Kayaks and all necessary equipment
* Basic instruction in kayaking and safety briefing
* Guide
*
Bottled water and nutritious snacks
*
Optional gourmet picnic
Cost is $75 per person.
